Dear UW Alum and Friends,

 

The UW School of Music Alumni Association (SOMAA) needs your support.  Working together and staying connected with others who have similar interests are among the goals for SOMAA.  The board, advisors, and volunteer members of SOMAA are working to keep connections active.  Your membership makes this possible through a variety of activities:

 

Increased collaboration with the UW School of Music and the UW Alumni Association. The next SOMAA reunion will be held in conjunction with the popular “Alumni Weekend” in the spring of 2011.  Look for special concerts by a variety of UW performing ensembles and other special events for SOMAA members. 
Save the Dates:  April 28-May 1, 2011.

 

Scholarship Fund – Initiated in 2002, the generosity of alumni now provides four-year scholarships for two incoming freshmen each year.

 

Outreach – Convention exhibits and events such as UW concert receptions for students and alumni.

 

Recognition of New Graduates – All graduates of the UW School of Music receive their first year of membership free.

 

Modulations – A Spring and Fall newsletter for SOMAA members initiated in 2001.  A great way for members to keep up on what is happening with SOMAA, biographies of scholarship winners and board members, committee reports, etc.

 

Website Redesign – A convenient way to stay informed and connected.  Check it out at www.uwsomaa.org.

 

The SOMAA website and newsletters help to keep all of us connected.  $40.00 per year is all that it takes to show your support for the activities of the UW School of Music Alumni Association.  The membership committee has set a goal for doubling our current membership of just over 200 by the 2011 reunion.  If you are already a member, please take this time to renew.  If you are not a member, there has never been a better time to join.
